| More on the Goddess in these times |

| Most of the world’s scriptures are handbooks to higher consciousness. Oftentimes the very characters are universal archetypes of everyman or every woman. Take for instance the archetype of the “damsel in distress” which is played out in so many scriptures and stories around the world. This theme is an archetypical pattern of the soul which is feminine. The issue of the damsel that needs to be rescued is played out in the role of Persephone who is rescued by Orpheus in Hades and who is allowed to rise into the light. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a theme of rising into the light. The Ascension of the Sophia, originating in the fourth century predates the Assumption of Mary by centuries and seems to be the theme which later revelations of Mary are patterned. This story of Sophia is a universal theme of our own soul; her ascent follows her descent. Similarly our descent is akin to a lightening flash and our ascent is often an onerous and difficult climb. The ascent is often serpentine in as much as it takes great wisdom and is remindful of Jesus’ admonition to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as a dove. Sophia (wisdom) was named Pistis Sophia or the loyal one. Such loyalty is born from the heart which is a type of gnosis that is far different than that of the senses. The world we live in can be a dark place and the senses can mislead us through attachments. Paradoxically what is needed is light to find the light. Such a gnosis requires an actual experience in contradistinction to a “head trip” in order to anchor ourselves into the ground of the transcendental. The logos does not reach down and immediately rescue Sophia from the lower worlds of chaos. The archons are the rulers of the lower worlds and are gatekeepers holding us down to experience of time so that we do not pass into the eternal. The story tells us that she was betrayed by the chief archon, the arrogant one, but never lost her virginal longing for the light. There exists within each of us this virginal spark that longs for that reunion or marriage with the Pleuroma. The messenger of the light comes to all of us as a lamp to light our way and to mirror that divine spark and does so during the deepest part of our descent into chaos. Once we attain the gnosis that we are light beings we cannot be misled by the pellucid senses. The journey of the soul is one of involution and evolution. The divine spark which is part of the Pleuroma leaves and descends into matter. After its deepest descent, it ascends up the ladder of evolution. Aurobindo, the great Indian sage tells us that in our present state of evolution we are balance between involution and evolution. At this juncture we will become aware of the numinous. The goddess emphasizes the cyclic nature of reality. Cycles, biorhythms, harmony of the spheres, death and rebirth cycle, etc. all play a vital role in the universe. We usually concentrate on the first part of the cycle and ignore the other part. The first part is the elimination of the old and the second part is regeneration or the new paradigm. As we face the Great Cycle (Annus Magnus) or Great Year in astrology brought on by the Precession of the Equinoxes, we come to witness what the Mayans called the end of time culminating during the winter solstice of 2012. This major cycle is leading us to the return of the Goddess in these times. The damsel in distress (our soul) is rescued and we are brought into the light of the Pleuroma when the earth faces the galactic center. “A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” -Revelation 12:1 Sai Grafio saizerostate@att.net |
